Lamont Peterson was impressive in his KO of Kendall Holt, which came after his nearly two year lay-off from boxing. That lay off happened because Peterson’s win over Amir Kahn was quickly tainted by a positive test containing Synthetic Testosterone. Peterson was thought to be in better shape during the Holt fight than he was two years prior and his build naturally garnered sceptics. His past surely has marred the public’s perception of him as a fighter and every little aspect of his fights will be critiqued. That past was assumed to be pushed further behind him with the victory of Holt. Recently, Peterson’s name has been linked to a failed test from the fight. This is where the facts become fuzzy and speculation is running rampant. The official drug test results haven’t been posted but Peterson’s name is automatically the first one thrown into the mix. Throughout the fight process Peterson maintained that he was clean and would show the world his true talent. That was backed up by a post-fight drug testing result announced by DC commission head Sheldon J. Brown, whom had told the IBF and Holt’s camp that Peterson’s tests result had shown negative results. RingTV was amongst the first to report these test but have since rescinded  the article because of lack of factual information. The stories becomes more peculiar with reports leaking that says Holt is the one who failed the test. The test in question were positive for HCG, a woman’s fertility drug that is used when athletes cycle off of PEDs. More details are bound to surface and those details can’t come fast enough for Peterson. His May 18th Showtime fight with Lucas Matthysse is riding on the results of these test.
