A former boxer has been shot dead.
Corrie Sanders, who used to represent South Africa when he fought, was shot dead by robbers during a family celebration at a restaurant. He was 46-years-old.
Sanders’ career highlight came he knocked out Wladimir Klitschko, which is one of the biggest upsets in the heavyweight division. He was also a former WBO and WBU champion, as well.
Sanders took bullets to his hand and his stomach, while attending a family member’s 21st birthday party. The incident took place in Brits, South Africa on Saturday night, according to police.
A few hours later, this morning, he passed away in Pretoria.
Three armed men entered the restaurant with the intent to rob the place. Once entering, they shot randomly, hitting Sanders. He was the only individual injured, as there were no other injuries reported.
