An action packed night of world championship boxing from the El Paso Coliseum kicked off Mexican Independence Day with several Mexican fighters celebrating victories that showed their independence.  The event, which aired on ESPN Deportes was co-promoted by Goossen Tutor Promotions and Promociones Del Pueblo. In the main event of the evening, WBC Featherweight Champion Jhonny Gonzalez successfully defended his title against the tough and experienced Rogers Mtagwa. Gonzalez came out swinging and defeated his opponent via TKO at 2:15 into the second round. With the win, Gonzalez improves to 50 wins and only 7 losses, 44 of which have come by way of knockout.
