Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s uncle/trainer, Roger Mayweather, says that Mayweather will be the busier fighter on Sept. 14 against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez when the two meet at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas Nev. This news should shock anyone, as Mayweather Jr. has out-punched three-of-his-last-five opponents—which include Miguel Cotto, Victor Ortiz and Shane Mosley who were out punched and Robert Guerrero and Juan Manuel Marquez who out punched Mayweather Jr.—and as a whole out-punched his last five opponents combined (2,341 to 2,270) according to CompuBox numbers. The number of punches Mayweather Jr. has thrown more than his opponents is slim, but the percentage of the landing rate is not. Mayweather Jr. has landed an average of 41 percent of his punches in his last five fights compared to only 17 percent landed by his opponents.
