A great campaign in Winnipeg, Canada used graffiti and guerilla tactics that looked like it was the work of Winnipeg Blue Bombers' fans. It was awesome!
Winnipeg was splattered with mysterious blue handprints, Join the Revolution and a caption that beckoned, “We are strong. We are many. Join us.” Jittery, hazy blue handprints were projected onto buildings late at night. Radio ads appeared to have been hijacked by crazed fans. Billboards, newspapers, web sites, buses, a jumbotron and print ads were covered by the same spray-painted blue hands.
Turns out behind it all was Winnipeg advertising and marketing agency McKim Cringan George (MCG). The subversive teaser advertising campaign did well to get the interest of Bombers'
fans and many of them went and still go to a microsite in the ads called called http://thebluerevolution.ca/ to join the revolution, enter contests and to upload their own blue hand sightings across town.
Part of the beauty of MCG’s Blue Revolution multimedia campaign, a first of its kind for Manitoba in its scope and 'guerilla-ism' is that no one has to join anything. The fans are already here, year after year, with painted blue faces, hands and all. They are to stand up and be counted among the strong, among the many, and to get swept up in The Blue Revolution.
Blue Revolution “sightings” be documented and fans can join at thebluerevolution.ca. Go to Youtube to see vids of fans, the blue projections, pics and hear the radio ads! Fun!! http://www.youtube.com/mckimcringangeorge
