Trey Burke Will Be Dealing With VCU's Press/
“Wake up!” the Saturday noon special or brunch blockbuster starts the college action off on the main network feed. Promising to be an excellent match up between the talented Wolverines and the swarming Rams, the guard play will be the determining factor in this South Region dandy. Trey Burke has the ability to swerve and juke his way through most traffic, but he has met his Los Angeles rush hour. The Rams pressure is suffocating, and the Michigan squad better be awake after a Rams bucket.
If the Big Blue is going to prevail in this one, Trey is going to have to drive and dish, and when presented with the open 3, nail it. Inside the paint, Michigan’s big-bodied Mitch McGary must defend and neutralize the Rams paint phenom Juvonte Reddic. Reddic can be a beast, but McGary’s width will be needed to move Reddic out of position.

BEST OF MAXIM
Michigan sophomore point guard Trey Burke talks about his confidence in his teammates, how he feels physically after the nasty fall against SDSU, and bouncing back after a rare subpar performance.
Nate Wolters helped contain Trey Burke, so in the much-anticipated matchup of star point guards, South Dakota State more than held its own.
It was the rest of the Michigan lineup the Jackrabbits had trouble with.
Glenn Robinson III scored 21 points and Mitch McGary added 13 points and nine rebounds, helping fourth-seeded Michigan overcome a rough night for Burke in a 71-56 NCAA...
After the highs and lows of a 34 game season, Michigan’s year will remembered by its NCAA tournament performance. The Wolverines will hope to avoid a repeat early upset tonight as they battle South Dakota State in a round of 64 tournament clash. Nate Wolters vs. Trey Burke will grab all of the headlines but both teams feature their fair share of offensive talent and shooting accuracy...
In a game that was billed as a battle of the most efficient point guards in college basketball, neither player hit the ground running. Michigan’s Trey Burke and South Dakota State’s Nate Wolters combined to score six points in the first half on dismal 2-of-15 shooting. After a close first half, the Wolverines were able to pull away in the second with a 71-56 victory...
Throughout the first half of Michigan’s 71-56 defeat of South Dakota State on Thursday, Trey Burke simply did not look like the National Player of the Year candidate Michigan fans have watched all season. The Jackrabbits were shutting down the middle and Burke was seeing jumpers rim out left and right.
It was obvious Burke was pressing. Michigan’s point guard finished the first...
1) Michigan isn’t bothered by ‘havoc’ in opening minutes
The first few minutes of this game were going to be key for both teams. If Michigan came out playing poorly at the start, as the Wolverines have been known to do at times, it would be bad news. If the VCU forced Michigan into some early turnovers resulting in easy basket, the Wolverines could have found themselves with...
VCU had a full half of its round of 64 match-up against Akron to think about its next opponent on Thursday evening, given the game was pretty much over at the break. The Rams took a 25-point lead on the Zips and never looked back, winning in impressive fashion, 88-42.
VCU’s famed “havoc” defense is often described as a full-court press, but it is perhaps more accurately described...

Turns out VCU was the team that should have been worried about this NCAA tournament matchup.
Havoc is heading home after Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr. and cool-headed Michigan breezed through VCU's vaunted pressure.
''They have a lot of players and a lot of good ball handlers,'' Rams coach Shaka Smart said. ''They were able to, when they did break the...
It was clear that Michigan was unfazed by VCU’s vaunted ‘havoc’ defense from the opening tip off. The Wolverines scored on six of their first seven possessions and never looked back.
Havoc didn’t lead to giveaways – although Trey Burke had a season high seven turnovers – instead it yielded open shot after open shot for John Beilein’s Wolverines. Michigan’s...
