Cal hits homerun! Mike Montgomery hired as new head coach!!

The California Basketball search is over, and AD Sandy Barbour has hit another home run! The Bears will be run by ex-Stanfurd coach Mike Montgomery, who has been in talks to accept the open job vacated by Ben Braun. This is a great hire, one that the program really needed and will immediately start paying dividends. Monty has been a winner everywhere he's gone (ok, except with the Warriors), led the Cardinal to 16 NCAA Tourney appearances and a Final Four, while contending for the Pac-10 title every year. This move may even entice leading scorer Ryan Anderson to stick around for another year and put the NBA on hold. Either way, I'm thrilled with the moves that Barbour has pulled since joining the Bears in 2004 (Tedford, Montogmery, and Women's BBall coach Joanne Boyle). GO BEARS!
