DeJuan Blair knows how skilled of an athlete he is and how rare his wide and bulky 6′7″ 265lb frame is. He thinks it could give him a career in football if the whole basketball thing doesn’t work out.

If basketball doesn't work out,lol I see he has a helluva sense of Humor, this kid has all the skills to be an All-star caliber player in the NBA,But it's good to have a back up plan..

I applaud his foresight. He should work out for a few teams. There's nothing like having options and if he doesn't get the kind of contract he wants in the NBA well there's always the NFL. He'd be a tough match-up on the football field and he has the tools to be a top tier tight end. He's big, strong, fast and agile. Linebackers would have fits trying to stay with him and he's too big for corners and safeties. Keep your option open young man. Good Luck!

He's already got his mind on the draft...I'll surely miss the big fella. Everybody thought the same thing about Chevy Troutman, but things didn't work out for him with the Redskins. Lets hope if he does follow this path he's more like Sam Clancy...though I'd rather see him be more like Barkley...if he can develop a jump shot.

He should check out the NFL because he can't shoot, that shot he made agaisnt Xavier was lucky, if you watch the replay closely you'll see his eyes were closed and he dropped a rabbit's foot, two 4 leaf clovers, and a Horse Shoe. Nova took him out of his misey LOL

Well, the Eagles have just found their offensive lineman. Forget about Duke Robinson. Blair can play both sports.

It's not too uncommon for college basketball players to end up in the NFL as a TE since they're big, mobile, and have good hands and footwork. It's hard to say if Blair would accel at TE or not, but it's definitely worth a shot.

That's a helluva backup plan that most can't even fathom.

I don't think that is much of a backup plan at all... the only forseeable reason the NBA won't work out would be because of injury, and injury prone basketball players would not last very long in pads. He should have a backup plan that does not invlolve athletics.

I can see blair being successful in the nfl he's a big athletic guy and he style of play on the basketball court would be an easy transition for him to switch from college to the nfl under the right coaching staff. Antonio Gates and Julius Peppers were good college basketball players who decided to play inthe nfl and they are having pretty good nfl careers and they pose a unique mismatch for most opponets they face week in and week out so I say that not a bad backup plan at all for a guy his size and with his unique skill set but personally I think he is going find his place in the nba kinda like glen big baby davis is doing with the boston celtics

Please don't compare him to Big Baby haha I don't know how that guys still in the league...not sure he'd fit in too places other than Boston. Like Big Baby though, he needs to develop a jump shot if he wants to increase his draft stock...only problem is he'll be entering this year's draft and shouldn't get picked until late in the 1st/early 2nd.

I didn't hear about that,I heard that the coach (Jamie Dixon)was in the running for the Arizona Wildcats job,but Blair yeah I could see why he consider if the coach was gonna leave for another program, then he should consider about going pro,he does need to develope a mid range jumpshot, but I still think that he is gonna be a helluva pro..

I wonder if finishing his education figures in his backup plan also ?
