Word on the street says there’s a 99% chance the Eagles take a running back in the first round. With Buckhalter going to the Broncos and Westbrook coming off a season full of knee problems at 30-years-old, it’s safe to assume the Eagles will use one of their first two picks to take a RB despite the “Eagles never use a 1st round pick on a RB” mentality.

The Eagles should essentially have their choice of Beanie Wells, Knowshon Moreno, LeSean McCoy, or Donald Brown. I’ve written about the first 3 backs on this site before, but I haven’t read too much on Donald Brown, who apparently the Eagles really like. Donald Brown is a 5′10″, 210 pound UCONN RB. Here’s his draft profile. Let’s take a look (videos to follow at the full URL)

I wouldn't hold my breath for the Eagles to draft a RB in the 1st round. I think they trade up to draft a OLman or trade 1 pick for a vet., and use the other pick on a OLman. RB will probaly come in 2nd or 3rd round.
  • Pettigrew 21st, OL 28th, and rb in the 2nd rd

I love this guy. He is actually my favorite in all of the backs, more or less because I think he fits in better on the Eagles.
  • Heaslip008
trade for jason peters, draft pettigrew and moreno/wells

how could they possibly do that?
      • Heaslip008
jason peters has a huge contract and the bills do not want to pay him, if the need is there and he is still sitting out by draft day they may have to make a day time decisions and give him up for a second and a conditional next year
  • i dont think theyll take the 4 5 or 6 best linemen unless they see something they like thats starting right away caliber because they could have their starting oline today from their current roster if they wanted to I think theyll go with the best offensive player so a wideout pettigew or one of the top backs i dont see them reaching for a tackle unless they think hes a better starter maybe william beaty or something but i see running back and possibly a wideout i dont think they can improve in the redzone even tho celeks starting jacksons good curtis is good in the slot but we got to get more physical at wideout

From what i have seen and heard, i like what Donald Brown brings to the table, but if you have a choice of either Knowshon Moreno or any of the other runningbacks, you have to pick Moreno. I don't care what his 40 time is, or how much he can bench press. The dude can flat out play and is going to be a star in this league.

If Beanie Wells is there at #28 I think he's the pick, but Donald Brown is not to shabby, problem is he's not the power back we want

Power back on the team is now Leanord weaver :)

If the Eagles do shock us and take a RB in the first round, it will be Wells or Moreno. I watched the video highlights and although I admit I have never seen this kid, I was not impressed. He showed great vision, but seemed to lack the explosiveness to take advantage of it. He never ran through an arm tackle, and got caught from behind on the one long run he had. Now, I'm not totally writing him off as he turned a lot of losses and 1 yard gains into 4-6 yard carries, which is good, but not good enough for the first round.Mark my words, if the Eagles take a RB in Round 1, he will be from Ohio State or Georgia. I would give the edge to Moreno as he is a great blocker and basically the same back as Westbrook, but Wells has the higher NFL upside.
  • moreno and or wells will not be availible people, they need a receiver like hakeem nicks but we know that wont happen because andy seems to be afraid of recievers

no we dont need a nicks, we need an edwards

Who is going to draft Moreno or Wells before we pick at 21? In a deep draft, talent-wise, they obviously are not going to crack the top 11.
After that, you have the Broncos, Redskins, Saints, Texans, Chargers, Jets, Bears, Bucs, and Lions. That is a team that had 3 RB's on IR and just traded for two more, Clinton Portis, Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas, Slaten, Sproles and Tomlinson, Matt Forte, Earnest Graham, and Kevin Smith. The obvious reach teams are the Broncos, but they sit at 12 and have a coach that will want to run a 3-4 so they will need a new ILB and DT. The Bucs, Bears, and Lions all have NUMEROUS other needs to fill. So I ask again, what two teams will reach on one of them before we pick 21st?

I just did a mock draft on nfl.com

I actually think Moreno could drop to 28 for the Eagles, I also have Donald brown being picked up by NE... they do have a man crush on Donald Brown.
  • edwards would be nic ebut u have to ask youself if we want a guy that drops that many balls,i do take into consideration that he was on a ba team ,but you cant contribute all of his drops to just that, but he did have a monster year 2 yrs ago so if we do trade for him which braylon edwards are we gonna get,but he has potential for sure
