Newell Signs Professional Contract With Italian Team

PLAYERS: Anthony Newell
Former Ball State men's basketball standout Anthony Newell (Chicago, Ill./Simeon) has signed a professional contract with the Assigeco Casalpusterlengo basketball team in the Italy-A dilettanti league. Newell, a team tri-captain last year, led the Cardinals in scoring at 15.2 points per game and in rebounding at 9.4 caroms per game before suffering a season-ending leg injury 13 games into the 2008-09 campaign.
