The Oregon Ducks have received a verbal commitment from Kamyron Brown. The point guard out of Mater Dei is considered the top PG on the west coast, and was thought to be headed to Arizona when Mustafa Shakur leaves next year. This will help the Ducks replace Aaron Brooks. The Ducks have been quite a disappointment recently, with Brooks, Malik Hairston, and Bryce Taylor this program was expected to do great things and contend for a Pac-10 title. All that has occurred is a great deal of disappointment and the talk of head coach Ernie Kent possibly losing his job. The Ducks must turn it around this season, or Kent may be gone...but maybe that's a good thing.

I agree because all indications have Ernie Kent on the hot seat, and after another disappointing season he may well be on his way out. Plus, who chooses Oregon over Arizona anyway? Lute Olson is a legend and wins championships, Oregon is still, by many accounts, an upstart program with little to show for in terms of real accomplishments.

Brown isn't the first elite guard to choose Ernie Kent's program. Kent may be on the hot seat, but his teams run all over the floor, and guards are really attracted to that kind of a system. Luke Ridnour flourished at Oregon. Then there's the added benefit of early and regular playing time, which might not be so available with Shakur at Arizona.

Kent's teams may not have performed great lately, but he did make the Elite Eight in 2002, with the Lukes and Frederick Jones.

It is true that Luke Ridnour flourished as a Duck, but does it matter if Kent isn't around? I seriously believe that if Oregon doesn't finish in the top 3 in the Pac-10 he's done.
