Player of Week: Terrell Stoglin, Maryland – Stoglin scored an amazing 53 points in Illinois’ two games last week, despite the team losing both contests. The sophomore also knocked down 7 3-pointers with 9 boards and 5 dimes. He is the Terps’ most effective scorer and will be a player to watch come tournament time.

That Maryland lost a close one to UNC is not the point. The point is that Maryland, a team of underclassmen thought to be at least a year away from anything, was able to push a star-studded, No. 5-ranked team to the brink.
Bravo to that, and to the continued development of freshman seven-footer Alex Len, who basically took on UNC’s All-American frontcourt by himself. Anyway...

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- Terrell Stoglin scored 27 points and helped Maryland hold off a late Clemson rally in a 64-62 victory on Tuesday night.
The Terrapins (14-9, 4-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) looked like they were in control, ahead 53-39 with 7:55 to go. That's when the Tigers (11-12, 3-6) went on a 19-6 run to cut the lead to a point on Devin Booker's two foul shots....

Last night Maryland held off Clemson to win 64-62 and move to 4-5 in conference play. Terrell Stoglin played as well as he has all year scoring 27 points on 9-11 shooting and 4-6 from 3 point range. Maryland moved to 4-5 in conference play while Clemson dropped to 3-6.
