Tony MitchellBy Paul Seaver (TheArenaPulse)
Alabama announced on Monday afternoon that junior forward Tony Mitchell has been suspended indefinitely.
Head coach Anthony Grant said that Mitchell was suspended, not for one in thing in particular, but in fact a number of things that accumulated over time.
The Crimson Tide have won back-to-back games, but are just 2-4 in their past six games.
At 15-7 overall and 4-4 in the SEC, Alabama still has work to do if they hope to qualify for the NCAA Tournament in the coming weeks.
The loss of Mitchell does not help as the 6-foot-6 junior currently ranks second on the team in scoring and rebounds.
Mitchell played 31 minutes on Saturday, but was forced to come off the bench. The forward had started every game prior to this past weekend.
Alabama will hit the road without Mitchell in the lineup, as the Crimson Tide are set to take on Auburn and LSU this week.
Mitchell is averaging 13.1 points and 7.0 rebounds per game this season.
