The Dayton Flyers are officially out of the NCAA Tournament. Can anyone think of a more appropriate ending for this season? UD led by as much as 14 during the game, but allowed a three headed monster – bad offense, stalled performances, and Rob Lowery – rear its ugly head.There has been particular sensitivity in the last week to criticizing UD basketball and individual players. I agree that we must be mindful that these are young players, proneful to the same mistakes that we made at their age, who give a lot of themselves during the season. As Flyers fans, we should be encouraging of the individuals who represent our team on the national stage. At the same time, there are plenty of worthwhile representatives of UD who didn’t receive full scholarships and weren’t asked to accept the risk-reward of playing Division 1 basketball.
