Apparently 6′-8″ power Brandon Ashley of Findlay Prep (NV) enjoyed his unofficial visit to Arizona’s campus after the Boost Mobile Elite 24 game, as news of his verbal commitment to the Wildcats broke today. Ashley, who played three seasons at Bishop O’Dowd (CA) prior to transferring to Findlay Prep (NV) for his senior year, is ranked the #5 prospect in the country in the Class of 2012, which clearly makes this a huge addition for Arizona.
Ashley joins Orange Lutheran (CA) combo guard Gabe York and La Verne Lutheran (CA) forward Grant Jerrett as pledges for the Wildcats, to date. Ashley plays on the grassroots circuit for the Oakland Soldiers, which sent two touted guards to the 2011 class at Arizona, Josiah Turner and Nick Johnson. Arizona had Hoopniks’ #4 rated class in 2011, and is looking another Top 5 class, at a minimum, when all is said and done for 2012. In fact, there’s a very really possibility that Arizona could land the best recruiting class in the nation.
