So I guess everyone saw Kentucky win the national title Monday night. I’m not a John Calipari fan, but Anthony Davis is the best defensive big man in over a decade. Congratulations to Kentucky on a well deserved title. Ok time to see what’s happening with the bloggers of the ACC. TarHeelFan blog updates us on James Michael McAdoo. Is he turning pro or not? Really nobody knows but McAdoo and his family. I think he needs another year at UNC, but like I said on twitter last week. The NBA would draft a 12 year old if they could. BCInterruption has a preview of Boston College’s Frozen Four opponent the Minnesota Gophers. Go Eagles! There’s not an SEC team in the Frozen Four right? Football, Basketball, Baseball national titles… No ok… Go Eagles! This article is a few days old, but it is an interesting take on the state of Wake Forest basketball and specifically head coach Jeff Bzdelik from Wake Forest Blogger BloggerSoDear. Bzdelik is running out of time. His 2 year tenure has been one d...

Calipari, Self more than just recruiters

There is an inherent silliness to a profession like the one that has made rich men of John Calipari and Bill Self. They spend months, even years, burning thousands of gallons of jet fuel and begging teenagers to come play for them, even if it's just for 35 college games. And if you're good enough at that particular skill, you earn the label of "recruiter," which...

Worth the Wait for John Calipari

Worth the Wait for John CalipariFor decades, one of the best college coaches in the game has been John Calipari.  Everywhere he’s gone he has brought programs to both prominence and destruction. In the past, he led UMass and Memphis to appearances in the Final Four, but he has never been able to capture that elusive championship.  He came the closest in 2008 when coincidently...

Calipari 'not Interested' in NBA

Weekly Recruiting Beat (4-1-2012) – Kentucky’s recruiting plan faces final test

While enviable on-court success has certainly come to the Kentucky Wildcats basketball program under coach John Calipari, it has come from teams that have been formulated in a unique fashion – with a heavy emphasis on one-and-done college players. During Calipari’s tenure, Kentucky has ran off three consecutive top ranked recruiting classes, which have sent [...] Related posts...

Will John Calipari Go to the NBA?

Everyone knows about the decisions the players on the Kentucky roster have to make about their basketball futures in the next couple of weeks, but could their head coach John Calipari follow them out of Lexington to coach in the NBA? Although rumors of Calipari to the pros have emerged every year since Calipari has...Read the Rest...

Kentucky, Calipari claim national title

John Calipari finally has his NCAA championship. His Kentucky Wildcats captured the program's eighth national title with an 67-59 victory over the Kansas Jayhawks on Monday night in New Orleans. The eight NCAA basketball championships only rank second to UCLA (11). Doron Lamb led the Kentucky scoring attack with a game-high 22 points, including 3 of 6 from 3-point range, while...

Let the record show that John Calipari has stated that he is not interested in a NBA coaching job

Why coaches paint themselves in these types of corners we will never know. Granted, it may be true that John Calipara isn’t interested in coaching in the NBA at the moment. But as we all know, moments change very quickly.Calipari doesn’t need the money. He doesn’t need to prove he’s a great coach. But he still has that NBA stain on his career that you have to believe he wants...

Is John Calipari the "One and Done" Devil?

Listen, I have as much disdain for John Calipari as the next person. Do I agree with the “One and Done rule?” Nope. But, is John Calipari really the NCAA’s version of the devil just because he recruits a ton of “One and Dones?” Allow me to rewind for a moment back to the year 2000. The University of Memphis was coming off a three year run of its worst basketball in the...

Won and Done, indeed. Maybe even Over and Out. All that really matters is that Kentucky parlayed a roster full of NBA talent into a 67-59 victory Monday night over Kansas for the team’s eighth national NCAA basketball title – its first since 1998. Kentucky’s top freshman, Anthony Davis, had a rough shooting night, but John Calipari coached this team to a wire-to...
