TEMPE, Ariz. Junior Trent Lockett, Arizona States leading everything, has not returned to practice this week, but the Sun Devils have not ruled him out for the Pac-12 home series against the Washington schools this weekend. Lockett continues to get heavy treatment and remains in a walking boot after suffering a sprained right ankle with 10 minutes to play in a victory over Oregon State on Jan. 14. He has been out since. "Trent is doing better," ASU coach Herb Sendek said Tuesday. "He still has not returned to practice and remains uncertain for Thursday." Lockett, who was moved from the wing to point guard when Keala King was first suspended and then dismissed, leads the Sun Devils in scoring (13.9), rebounding (6.4) and steals (26). He is shooting 55 percent from the field and 42 percent from 3-point range. The Sun Devils missed him last week, when they scored only 97 points in road losses to Colorado and Utah. ASU shot 42 percent from the field against the Buffaloes and 39 percent against the Utes, and it was outrebounded by 17 in the two games combined. Junior Chris Colvin, who opened the season as the starting point guard, had a career-high 15 points against Colorado and finished the weekend with 20 points, eight assists and seven turnovers. It seems likely that given Colvins improved play, the Sun Devils will continue to start him at point guard and put Lockett in his more natural wing position when he is able to return. Lockett is 11th in the Pac-12 in scoring, eighth in rebounding and seventh in steals, the only player in the conference ranked that high in all three categories. Washington wing Terrence Ross and Washington State forward Brock Motum, in town this weekend, are the only other two players to rank with Lockett in both scoring and rebounding.
