Even with Rice's late season struggles he still gets the nod here. BC was 11-2 when Rice scored 20 or more points this season and 16-1 when he had 6 or more assists. Although he failed to produce much down the stretch, he was the key for BC to even reach the level of success they had this year. His numbers were not as flashy as last year, but he was still the MVP. Defensive POY Corey Raji
Raji's efforts on the glass this season gave BC a huge lift. While he is undersized, he is scrappy and has a nose for the ball and he established himself as a premier offensive rebounder. He has 4 double digit rebounding games including a career high 15 in a loss to Miami. Verdict There has been plenty of debate on whether or not this season was a success. While nobody is pleased with a first round tournament exit Eagles fans can take solace in the fact that the core of this team will be around for the next two seasons. For a young team predicted to finish 11th in the conference, a 22-win season is something to be proud of. I doubt many people could have predicted the team would win that many games and post a 9-7 record in the ACC.
While the team's play has been puzzling and frustrating to watch this year, we have seen significant improvement, especially in Rakim Sanders. The inconsistency this year can be chalked up to the lack of experience, but I think some of the responsibility should fall on the coaching staff. Although fans may not always see eye to eye with Skinner's in-game strategies, his track record for developing talent and putting winning teams on the floor is undeniable. I think it is fair to say this year was indeed a successful season. Our young guys got a taste of the tournament and hopefully they are hungry to improve upon their play next year.
