Officially committed to the University of Cincinnati! #Bearcats — 100 (@faradcobb) May 9, 2014 Cobb averaged 15.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 28 games last season. He hit 51% from the field, 46.3% from 3 and 82.5% from the free throw line. Cobb had 96 assists to 47 turnovers. He also had 60 steals, over 2 a game. He had 20 in 12 conference games. The shooting is what stands out. Farad hit 141-276 overall, 75-162 from 3. He became 3 happy in conference play. 68 of his 126 shots were from distance. But he hit 47.1% from deep. His shooting percentages rose in conference play. His assists did drop. After 62 assists to 20 turnovers in 18 non-conference games, he fell to 34 assists to 27 turnovers in conference action. It makes you wonder a tad about his ball handling ability. But if he can play off the ball and be a shooter, that would be a very, very big plus. Kevin Johnson was a volume shooter, Caupain and Guyn weren’t really good from 3 and we don’t know much about Deshaun Morman in a college setting. Cobb ended his season with four 21+ point games in his final six. That followed 3 straight single digit outings. The major turnover mark was a 12 turnover game against Pensacola State College. 12 turnovers in 36 minutes. That made up nearly half of his conference turnovers. It skewed his numbers a lot though. He ended the year with 8 assists to 17 turnovers the final 3 games. He did have 16 assists to 4 turnovers the four games prior. Not amazing, but not the horrific. The steals came in big chunks. 8 games of 4 steals or more with a season high of 6. Foul trouble wasn’t an issue for Cobb. With some questions about the backcourt, Farad Cobb looks like an answer. He should be someone who can step in and play right away. Cobb was a top 40 point guard in 2012 according to ESPN, a 2 star recruit. He was originally a Chattanooga Moc. image via
