The QB's on the Bucs roster can breathe a little easier today. Early this morning the Jets and Packers did a deal that will send future Hall of Fame QB Brett Favre to the Big Apple to play for the Jets. It was thought through the day on Wednesday that Favre would end up in Tampa Bay, likely leaving starter Jeff Garcia on the outside looking in. In the end, the Bucs felt that the asking price for Favre, which is a conditional draft pick based on his play in 2008, was too high. The team ended up not even talking to the Packers on Wednesday according to reports, and in the end the Packers moved on and took the deal with the Jets to move Favre. The Bucs can now focus on the roster as it stands, with Garcia as the starter, likely Luke McCown as the backup, and Brian Griese as the 3rd string. The future remains cloudy for Chris Simms, who out of nowhere took first string snaps in 11-on-11 drills on Wednesday. The team may be setting him up to showcase him to move him to another team. The Cowboys and Bears were two teams that reportedly have interest in Simms.
