Send to KindleButler announced earlier today that junior forward Roosevelt Jones will miss the 2013-14 men’s basketball season. Jones, Butler’s top returning scorer and rebounder, suffered a wrist injury during the Bulldogs’ recent trip to Australia and the injury has been determined to be season-ending. “Roosevelt suffered an injury that resulted in ligament damage to his left wrist, and he’ll undergo season-ending surgery,” said Butler head athletic trainer Ryan Galloy in a university statement. “His prognosis is good and he’s expected to make a full recovery for next season. Jones fell on his wrist in the first game of Butler’s exhibition trip to Australia, and didn’t play in the final three games of the Bulldogs’ tour. His injury was examined further upon the team’s return home, and it was determined that surgery was necessary. Jones, a 6-4 forward, averaged 10.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and a team-high 3.5 assists in 31 minutes per night for the 27-9 Bulldogs a year ago. A physical defender with a high motor, Jones plays much bigger than his size and collected over 200 rebounds in each of his first two seasons in Indy.  On the other end, he’s a scorer in and around the lane and improved his output from 7.8 per game in 2011-12 to 10.1 last year.  He would’ve been relied upon heavily this season, as Butler moves to the new Big East Conference and graduated two of its primary producers in Rotnei Clarke and Andrew Smith. Jones’ know-how and veteran leadership on the floor will also be missed, particularly as the Bulldogs prepare for life under first year head coach Brandon Miller, who replaced Brad Stevens after Stevens became the 17th head coach of the Boston Celtics.     Related Posts:(VIDEO) Cody Ellis talks about Billikens win over BulldogsBet against Miller, Butler at your own riskTeam Togetherness – Butler Assoc.
