With apologies to the FAA, Mark Fox remembers accepting the important call from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in the summer of 2010. Fox was hoping Caldwell-Pope would become the first McDonald's All-American to commit to Georgia out of high school in almost 20 years. The call came in just as Fox's airplane was taking off and a flight attendant was insisting he turn off his phone. Fox, on Monday recalling the brief conversation, says he heard Caldwell-Pope say he had good news. Then as the plane left the ground and the flight attendant impatiently hovered over Fox, the call was lost. Caldwell-Pope indeed signed with Georgia is one of the SEC's leading scorers. Fox, Caldwell-Pope and the Bulldogs play No. 1 Kentucky and its group of talented freshman on Tuesday night.
