Technically, John Calipari is not done with his current recruiting class that holds 6 McDonald’s All-Americans. Yet, he’s already working towards another star studded class in 2014. He already has a huge early catch by getting a commitment from Karl Towns. Town’s is currently ranked the #2 center in the class according to ESPN. Last Friday, Calipari was in California to take a look at 6’6” SF Stanley Johnson. Johnson is currently ranked 15th in the 2014 class, and 4th best at his position. With the impending mass exodus the ‘Cats will probably face following next season, the California native will be a welcome sight in Lexington. Johnson is already considered the best player on the west coast in this class. He currently lists only six schools as destinations to play his college ball. Two of them are from the east (Kentucky, Florida), and 4 are from the west (Arizona, Oregon, UCLA, USC). No surprise the Los Angeles schools are after Johnson with him being in their backyard. Arizona will look to be the worst west coast threat to land Johnson away from Kentucky. Here is what Johnson said about Kentucky: The 6-6 forward told Rivals.com this about Kentucky: “Kentucky, obviously Calipari. They win. I want to win. As a player, they play fast. I want to be a pro, and they give pros out. That’s what I want to do in my career is be an NBA player. So going there would probably ensure that I’ll be an NBA player.”
