Jordan Heath scored a season-high 21 points with 11 rebounds to lead all five Canisius starters in double figures as the hot-shooting Golden Griffins defeated Loyola (Md.) 91-79 Thursday night.
Isaac Sosa added 19 points, hitting 6 of 7 3-pointers, while Billy Baron scored 16 with seven assists, Harold Washington 13 and Chris Manhertz 11.
Canisius (14-8, 7-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) shot 63 percent (17 of 27) to lead 43-31 at halftime and finished at 60.4 percent (29 of 48), making 13 of 19 3-pointers.
The Golden Griffins expanded the lead to 69-48 with 11:04 left, but the Greyhounds closed the gap to 80-75 with 4:16 remaining. Loyola could get no closer, missing five field goals and three free throws.
Robert Olson scored a career-high 27 points for the Greyhounds (15-8, 7-4), who scored 32 points off 16 Canisius turnovers while committing only three miscues of their own.
