Mike Venezia scored 12 of his 15 points in the second half and Colgate held off New Jersey Institute of Technology on Wednesday night. The Raiders (7-15) led by 11 late before NJIT closed within one, 72-71, on Chris Flores' 3 with 2:50 to play. Yaw Gyawu answered with a layup and Sterling Melville would make 1 of 2 free throws to put the Raiders up by four with 37 seconds left. Lamar Kearse's layup pulled the Highlanders within two points, and Gyawu hit a free throw on the other end. Isaiah Wilkerson's off-balance 3-pointer missed at the buzzer for NJIT. Pat Moore and Nick Pascale added 14 each for the Raiders, who shot 56.3 percent from the field (27 of 48). Flores led the Highlanders (9-12) with 17 points. Isaiah Wilkerson added 14 points, P.J. Miller 12 and Ryan Woods 10 for NJIT, which lost its third straight.
