Colgate head coach Emmett Davis was hired by the university to succeed Jack Bruen in 1998.
Following 13 seasons at the helm, Davis was released of his duties as head men's basketball coach on Wednesday afternoon.

The 13-year tenure was Davis' only prior head coaching experience, but certainly he made the most out of it, emerging as the school's all-time wins leader. Davis was 165-212 at Colgate.

During the 2007-2008 season, Colgate finished the year with 18 wins, tying a school record for most wins in a season. Colgate lost in the Patriot League championship game that year.

Colgate has made only two NCAA Tournament appearances all-time. Both appearances came in back-to-back seasons in 1995 and 1996. Their current NCAA drought was extended to 15 years this past season.

The Raiders struggled in 2010-2011, finishing the season at 7-23 overall. Colgate was 4-10 within the Patriot League. Their only non-conference victories came over Longwood (twice) and Dartmouth. Colgate began the season at 0-11 and 1-15.

Back on December 11th, Colgate was embarrassed by Syracuse by 57-points (100-43). The score was 46-8 at halftime.

On the bright side, however, is the fact that Colgate will return all but one player (Sr., Joe Hoban) next season. They will also be in search of a new head coach.
