Monday was a rough day for fans of Colorado college basketball recruiting. The Buffaloes lost out on two of the targets that they were pursuing the hardest, point guard Tyrone Wallace and wing Daymean Dotson, who ended up at California and Oregon, respectively. While their Pac-12 rivals won the battles for Wallace and Dotson, Colorado had a back-up plan, and executed on it quickly, landing a verbal commitment from 6′-2″ point guard Xavier Talton of Sterling (CO).
Talton tripped to campus over the weekend, as it became apparent that the Buffaloes had slipped behind Cal in the race for Wallace. He’ll complete what is arguably the highest regarded Colorado basketball recruiting class. Two Top 100 players headline the group, in center Josh Scott and forward Xavier Johnson. Forwards Wesley Gordon and Chris Jenkins will fill out the class with Talton.
