Former Indiana commit James Blackmon Jr., a 6-foot-2, 180-pound shooting guard Fort Wayne, IN., shared the news on Monday afternoon that he had recently picked up a scholarship offer from Louisville.
Rick Pitino and staff have been focusing most of their attention on front-court players, but pursuing Blackmon may benefit Louisville in more ways than one. The Fort Wayne native is AAU teammates with current Louisville commit JaQuan Lyle and one of the Pitino’s top current targets, Trey Lyles.
Lyle, Lyles and Blackmon have been playing AAU together for the past three years for the Indiana Spiece. Lyle has made it pretty clear via his social media accounts that he’s been trying to convince Lyles to join him at Louisville. It’ll be interesting to see if he does the same with Blackmon now that he’s on the board.
