(Eds: Updates.) By ERIC OLSON AP Sports Writer Doug McDermott is Creighton's main attraction, yet it's the player who isn't even a starter who is often the difference between the Bluejays winning and losing. When 3-point specialist Ethan Wragge is on, they're almost unbeatable. When he's not, well, they aren't. Creighton's plan against Cincinnati (22-11) in the NCAA Midwest Regional in Philadelphia on Friday will be the same as in any other game. The Bluejays (27-7) want to get McDermott and center Gregory Echenique established inside first, which will allow the 6-foot-7 Wragge to do what he does best behind the 3-point line. ''He's a big difference-maker out there and a nightmare matchup for the opposing teams, especially if Cincinnati is going to pressure us a lot,'' McDermott said. ''I think he can get some open shots off the press or moving the ball around.'' Wragge is one of the nation's most prolific 3-poi...

McDermott a serious challenge for Cincinnati

All that was missing from Doug McDermott's highlight film was the swish. Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin had the sound on as he rolled the video on Creighton's All-American guard. His form, flawless. His shot, eerily quiet. That silent film made the Bearcats uneasy. Before Cronin could point out how the ball seemed to hit nothing but air, guard Cashmere Wright piped up: ...

Breaking Down Doug McDermott

Cincinnati plays Creighton on Friday afternoon. Creighton has the second leading scorer in the name in Doug McDermott. He averaged 23 points a game this season. He ended the season tearing through the Missouri Valley conference. That included top 30 Ken Pom defense Wichita State twice. Since he's such a prolific scorer, how does he get his buckets? What a great question.  ...

NCAA Tournament Live: Marshall Henderson’s Ole Miss, Doug McDermott’s Creighton Look to Make Noise on Second Day

8 a.m. ET: March Madness this time around is a little different than it has been in years past, with no clear-cut No. 1 team and few big-name players ready to etch themselves into NCAA Tournament lore. What’s so great about March Madness, though, is that even when the odds are stacked in one direction, anything can happen. Two players who have already grabbed some headlines before...

Sleeper Alert: Stunners Making It Into The Second Weekend

#7 Creighton It seems every expert is giving Creighton no respect. The best team field-goal percentage in the country coupled with Dougie “Fresh” McDermott could make a mini-run in the tourney. With a via AP second round matchup against Cincy, most analysts are picking the Bearcats over the Bluejays. This matchup will be Sean Kilpatrick versus Doug McDermott because each player...

Sportz Assassin's Midwest Region Preview

TEAM TO BEAT: Louisville. The won a wicked Big East tournament and get a very favorable venue list to get to the Final Four.  I buy into the notion that guard play is paramount in the NCAA tournament and the Cardinals have that in spades. TEAM THAT WILL WIN THE REGION: Louisville. I think it is laid out pretty well for Rick Pitino's bunch.  Short trips to Lexington and Indianapolis...
