PORTLAND, Ore. | Jarvis Varnado’s five blocked shots in Thursday's 71-58 loss to Washington ends his season at 170 blocks, which last week moved past a Southeastern Conference record of 157.

For his career, Varnado has 394 blocks. The NCAA record, owned by Wojciech Mydra of Louisiana-Monroe, is 535.

If State plays as many games next season as it did this season (36), Varnado will need to average 3.9 blocks per game to tie the record.

This season, he averaged 4.7.

Barring something unforseen, Varnado should set the SEC mark of 412, which belongs to Shaquille O’Neal, early next season.
