The recruiting world is on fire today, so I’ll start with some in-state news. After leading Madison Central to their first Kentucky state title, Dominique Hawkins was officially on the radar of one John Calipari. Calipari saw 3 0f the 4 tournament games, while assistant coach Orlando Antigua went to them all and stayed long after the final buzzer to watch the trophy presentation. Before the tournament, Hawkins had only a couple of mid-major offers from in state schools like Morehead State and Western Kentucky. He received a walk-on offer from Rick Pitino and Louisville, but stated he was not walking on to any school. It seemed as if it was just a matter of time before Hawkins would be named Mr. Basketball in the state of Kentucky, but would he get his coveted scholarship offer from the Wildcats? The dream may be coming true for the kid from Richmond. Here is a former teammate of Hawkins on his Twitter account: Hawkins will be a 4-year player for the Wildcats, and his eventual commitment would also lead to speculation about next year’s roster situation. If you haven’t, check out my article that I have posted detailing the scenarios. With the addition of Hawkins and possibly adding one more, that means some players are leaving in some way. Who it is, and whether they are going to the NBA or transferring is yet to be seen. I would look for confirmation about Hawkins’ scholarship sometime tomorrow. He’s made it clear that he is waiting on UK, and that’s it.

Calipari meeting with Andrew Wiggins today

With the rumblings of Dominque Hawkins committing to UK tomorrow, I would make a bet that John Calipari has spoke with his team and knows who will be staying, and who will be going. Huntington Prep did a McDonald’s send-off for Andrew Wiggins from 11-12 today. John Calipari was expected to meet Wiggins shortly after the festivities concluded. If I had a guess, I would say the meeting...

It Has Been A Rough Month For John Calipari

Kentucky head coach John Calipari has had quite a fall from grace over the past year. He was on top of the world just twelve months ago after winning a National Championship with one of the best college basketball teams in the last decade. The 2012-13 season was a different story. With the number one recruiting class in the country, Calipari and Kentucky were mediocre at best during...

Coach Calipari Will Meet With #1 HS Recruit Wiggins Today

Coach Calipari is already sitting on what many would deem the best recruiting class in the history of College Basketball. His scheduled meeting with Canadian sensation Andrew Wiggins could help solidify that title for this 2013 class. Fox Sports recruiting analyst Evan Daniels was the first to report this visit via his twitter page: Andrew Wiggins is meeting with John Calipari...

UK: One and Done in the NBA Draft?

On Wednesday, ESPN Analyst Chad Ford discussed Kentucky’s NBA Draft prospects with the Lexington Herald Leader. Despite John Calipari being a very familiar face during the past few years, he may only show up one time for this year’s edition. Calipari had had a grand total of 15 draft picks in the last 3 years, but Nerlens Noel could be one-and-done for Kentucky on draft night...

Future Cats close prep careers in style

The sting of Kentucky’s disappointing 2012-13 basketball season did not last as long as it ordinarily might have thanks in large part to John Calipari’s latest No. 1 recruiting class serving as a beacon of hope.

Report: Coach Cal To Meet With Star Recruit Andrew Wiggins Today

Could Kentucky’s historic recruiting class possibly be getting even better? The Wildcats have already landed the nation’s No. 3 ranked (ESPN) recruit (Julius Randle), the No. 5 recruit (Andrew Harrison), the No. 6 recruit (James Young), the No. 7 recruit (Aaron Harrison), the No. 11 recruit (Dakari Johnson), and the No. 18 recruit (Marcus Lee). Now, UK might be in the lead for...
