The Duke basketball team will fire off a lot of shots this season. Normally they’ll be doing so with a basketball, though.
Mike Krzyzewski took his team on a trip to his alma mater over the weekend, showing them around Army’s Westpoint campus and giving them a quick snapshot into the life of a cadet. The players even got some hands-on training with weapons during a special gun simulation training for the team on campus.
Freshman sensation Jabari Parker and his teammates were taken through an instructional program on how to properly use the guns, then they were given the go-ahead to get position on the ground with their assigned assault rifles and fire off some rounds for target practice. The players seemed excited by the opportunity, posing with the weapons as if they were getting ready to defend against the zombie apocalypse.
Check out a few photos of the Dukies showing off their guns below.

Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski took his team on an interesting little field trip this past week, letting his Blue Devils go on a tour of West Point – his alma mater. Apparently the players really enjoyed both practicing with and taking pictures with some of the massive assault rifles on campus. Don’t worry though, it was just gun simulation training. Very interested...

Naturally in this internet age there are photos of the event including some photos with Duke players with rifles in hand.

Duke Men’s Basketball Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski once said that in today’s basketball environment, one must adapt to it. In the realm of AAU basketball and the one-and-done, how does he maintain his “street cred?” Here is one way. During…Read more →
Serious looking photos of members of the Duke men's basketball team holding automatic assault rifles were posted on some of the Blue Devils' personal Facebook pages Saturday and had some people wondering what the shots depicted or if they were in bad taste.
Deadspin later explained that the Dukies and their M-4 carbines were part of the team's four-day fall break...
One of the true and constant bright lights of last season was the guy I nicknamed “Su-Su-Sulaimon” after the Phil Collins song. Quick and dangerous from anywhere on the court, the 6-foot-4 190 pound guard never seemed to have a learning-curve like most freshmen as he fit right into a starting role.
