It was important for Duke to shoot well from the outside as Georgia State and Coach Ron Hunter utilize a unique style of defense where they switch zones throughout the game. Mason Plumlee said after the game that it’s easier to play against Syracuse’s 2-3 matchup zone than what Georgia State put on the floor because you never know what’s coming. Coach K was very complimentary of Hunter’s coaching philosophy and it was clear that Duke struggled with the scheme early on. Overall tonight I was pleased, I think we did a good job against a team, Ron (Hunter) is one ...

Duke relies on outside shooting to beat Georgia State 74-55

By Josh Evans – Well, it was not the predicted easy win. Actually, Duke was in a real dog fight for most of the first half before blowing the game open and getting up by double digits late in the first half. The game was much closer than it should have been, and if Duke plays this way Tuesday against Kentucky, the results will not be the same. There were a few positives, but many...
