All kidding aside, we Buckeye fans love Eddie Days. As most fans love walk-ons. When they get in at the end of a blowout game for meaningless minutes, everybody is hoping they will score somehow and make their careers worthwhile. Eddie almost didn’t make that happen. He didn’t even play until his junior year, but didn’t score. He played in 9 games in this his senior season for just 17 minutes. He took five shots and missed them all. It wasn’t until the second round of the NCAA Tournament that Eddie scored his first point. A free throw at the end of the game. Validation for a career walk-on.
Unlike that famous walk on from the Greg Oden and Evan Turner days, who will remain nameless (Mark Titus), Eddie just did his job. He didn’t try to steal the limelight from the players who were actually good enough to get in the game.
