If you haven’t noticed, The Biz of Baseball hasn’t reported on Selena Roberts’ book on Alex Rodriguez. The reasoning has been simple: it’s sourced poorly and Roberts has a terrible track record when it comes to storming the gates with athletes. Case in point, her inability to issue any retraction surrounding the Duke lacrosse players that were charged with first-degree sexual offense, kidnapping and, earlier, with rape, only to find out that district attorney Mike Nifong was withholding exculpatory evidence. A North Carolina State Bar disciplinary panel later concluded that along with the withholding of evidence that would have exonerated the Duke lacrosse players, he also made inflammatory statements about the case. The panel called for his disbarment and Nifong resigned his office. Roberts wrote for the New York Times in March of ’06 an article that all but said that the Duke players were guilty.
