The West Virginia Mountaineers dropped their 3rd game in a row, losing to Pitt 72-66. The loss drops the Mountaineers to 15-8 overall, 5-5 in the Big East. Pitt's Tray Woodall scored 24 points, 16 of which were in the first half. The Panthers extended their winning streak to three games. Ashton Gibbs added 15 points for the Panthers. The Mountaineers were hot from the field early and jumped out to a 17-9 lead. But they'd go almost 8 minutes without a field goal allowing the Panthers to eventually take a 33-29 lead going into halftime. Kevin Jones led the 'Eers with 21 points and 13 rebounds. It was his eighth straight game with at least 20 points and his 16th double-double. Darryl "Truck" Bryant added 14 points, while Deniz Kilicli and Jabarie Hinds added 12 and 10 points. West Virginia will have a couple days off before the travel to Providence for a Sunday afternoon tip-off. The Mountaineers will face off against the Friars at noon.
