Found October 29, 2012 on Run the Floor:

Maryland's hopes for a big 2nd season under head coach Mark Turgeon took a bit of a hit when Xavier transfer Dez Wells was denied eligibility to play this season. This wasn't totally unexpected, but Wells had been in a unique situation after being dismissed from Xavier prior to a grand jury finding no reason to charge him with anything. That situation created hope amongst the Terrapin faithful that Wells would be cleared. But he wasn't. So, what effect will this have on their season? The Terps finished 17-15 (6-10) in a weak ACC last year. And then they lost Terrell Stoglin who attempted 38% of the team's shots when he was on the floor (3rd most in the nation). Regardless of the roster, this is a team that will see major changes. Wells, who had a standout freshman season for Xavier, could have immediately stepped in and helped fill that void. An explosive player on the wing, he made 38% of his threes, 54% of his twos, and did an excellent job taking care of the ball. In his absence, sophomores Alex Len and Nick Faust will need to make the leaps which are expected of them, and point guard Pe'Shon Howard will need to be healthy. Those three and power forward James Padgett will form the backbone of this team, and Wells would have complemented them exactly where they need help. The trickle down effect will mean more minutes for the freshmen (and transfer Logan Aronhalt), and if they excel this could be a Tournament team. With Wells though, they'd be much more dangerous. Still, having Dezmine Wells and fellow transfer Evan Smotrycz sitting this season out just means next year looks that much brighter. But the Turgeon rebuild would have gone a lot smoother with a piece like Wells to insert into the lineup.

After injuries, Maryland forced to start true freshman LINEBACKER at quarterback

Maybe it’s all just karma for the way which he left UConn, but whatever the case, there’s no doubt that Randy Edsall’s time at Maryland has been cursed. Beyond a near revolt from the local media after last year’s 2-10 campaign, and beyond any number of high-level players leaving the program via transfer, of the few who’ve stuck around College Park none can seem to stay...

Maryland loses 4th QB; Rowe out for year

Maryland has lost a fourth quarterback to a season-ending injury. Coach Randy Edsall announced Sunday that Caleb Rowe has a torn anterior cruciate ligament and is done for the year. The injury occurred in Saturday's 20-17 loss to Boston College. It was the first college start for the true freshman. Edsall says, ''I feel awful for Caleb. Quarterback C.J. Brown tore...

Maryland Forced to Start Linebacker at Quarterback Due to Four Season-Ending Injuries, Three Torn ACLs

Maryland quarterbacks are dropping at an unreal rate. Saturday's starter, Caleb Rowe, became the fourth Terrapins quarterback lost to season-ending injuries. Rowe tore his ACL late in the fourth quarter in a loss to Boston College, but stayed in for Maryland's final play --  a game clinching interception. The true freshman QB was supposed to redshirt this...

Make That FOUR Maryland QBs Done For The Year

I don't know what's in the water in College Park, or perhaps it's just the Randy Edsall Effect, but the Maryland Terrapins have lost their fourth quarterback to a season ending injury. Throw in the fact that Edsall chased QB Danny O'Brien out of College Park last winter faster than Rommel chased the Allies out of France and that makes it five. C.J. Brown, Perry Hills...

Desperate Terrapins Look for Answers at Quaterback Position

Desperate Terrapins Look for Answers at Quaterback PositionIt’s hard to imagine a program that has been hindered by injury more than the University of Maryland. As the Terrapins get ready to take on Georgia Tech this Saturday, they’ll be preparing with true freshman quarterback Shawn Petty.  For those who aren’t familiar with Petty, he’s not exactly known for his stellar...

And Then There Was None, Maryland's Rowe Out For The Year

We've now officially entered unchartered territory as Maryland has lost an unprecedented 4th QB to a season-ending injury.  The new QB is rumored to freshman Linebacker, Shawn Petty, who quarterbacked Greenbelt's Eleanor Roosevelt High School last year.  If Petty goes down, which at this point you need to prepare for, Brian McMahon a freshman TE who powered little...
