Florida's Senior Night could end with a net-cutting ceremony. It would be the ideal home finale for Kenny Boynton, Erik Murphy and Mike Rosario - the team's only seniors and its top three scorers. Together, they have the 11th-ranked Gators poised to become just the fourth team in school history to clinch the Southeastern Conference title outright. Florida (23-5, 13-3) needs to win one of its remaining two games to wrap up the league title. Of course, the Gators would much rather accomplish the feat at home Wednesday night against Vanderbilt (13-15, 7-9). ''That'd be huge,'' said Murphy, who also won the SEC outright two years ago. ''That'd be something really special for the team to accomplish that. Most of the guys weren't here the first time, so to do it again would be something special, especially in my last year and the possibility of doing it on Senior Night.'' For Boynton, Murphy and Rosario, getting to this point was ha...

Gators blast Vanderbilt, clinch SEC title

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Kenny Boynton scored 15 points, Pat Young added 14 and No. 11 Florida routed Vanderbilt 66-40 on Wednesday night to clinch the Southeastern Conference regular season championship. Florida won its fourth outright league title and third under longtime coach Billy Donovan. The Gators (24-5, 14-3 SEC) were alone atop the standings in 1988-89, 2006-07 and 2010...

Rosario experiencing consistent senior year

At any other point in his career, Mike Rosario wouldn’t have handled Saturday with the maturity he showed. The redshirt senior was taking bad shots and being careless with the ball against Alabama, so Florida head coach Billy Donovan put him on the bench for the last 12 minutes of the game. Instead of pouting, Rosario spent the rest of the game cheering for his teammates and being positive.

Emotional senior night ends in euphoria

The Gators were supposed to be warming up. Most of them were. And while Florida head coach Billy Donovan was meeting with his staff in the locker room, senior guard Mike Rosario burst through the doors. He had a phone call to make. The normal routine doesn’t usually happen on senior night, and it was no different on Wednesday as the Gators clinched the Southeastern Conference title.

Florida Gators Drop 3 Spots In Both Polls; Now At No. 11 In AP And No. 8 In Coaches

You attempted to guess where the Florida Gators would end up in the latest AP and USA Today Coaches polls and you may have been half right. Or you may have been half wrong. Depending on your general outlook on life. That whole glass half empty, glass half full thing. My guess was that the Gators would fall into the No. 9 slot in both polls if No. 4 Michigan had defeated No. 9/10...

Gators secure road win at Jacksonville

It was a typical sloppy midweek game, but the Gators found a way to win. That’s the most important thing for this young Florida team and the reason head coach Kevin O’Sullivan remains optimistic despite his team’s mistakes. The Gators pulled out an 8-5 win at Jacksonville on Tuesday.

Gators can clinch SEC title on Wednesday

The Gators head into the final week of regular season play with a chance to secure the Southeastern Conference regular season title with a win over Vanderbilt or Kentucky. It’s a goal Florida talked about accomplishing on its first day of practice, and now the chance to make it happen comes on Wednesday at 8 p.m. when the Commodores come to Gainesville.

Spring Preview: The Secondary

It is a mixed bunch in the secondary this spring for the Florida Gators. No new freshmen in the mix and so everyone is back and pretty much knows what they are doing in the Muschamp defense. Defensive back Travaris Robinson is set at cornerback with probably the most talented group in the country, but he has to find some answers at safety.

Spring preview: Special teams

The departure of Caleb Sturgis leaves a big hole to be filled on the Florida special teams unit. The first step to finding his replacement begins on March 13 when the Gators open spring practice. The future kicker will be the focus of the special teams. Florida returns Kyle Christy, one of the top punters in the country, and multiple experienced returners on punts and kickoffs.

The Gator basketball team has had probably the most memorable SEC season every. Dominating in all of their 14 wins so far, they finished off the home schedule going 15-0 and smacking around Vanderbilt to the tune of 66-40. It was senior night with Kenny Boynton, Erik Murphy, and Mike Rosario celebrating their last game at home as Gators. Here is a pictorial account of the happenings on Wednesday.
