Former Florida guard Erving Walker has pleaded no contest to a petty theft charge of stealing a $3 taco.
Judge Walter M. Green withheld adjudication Thursday and fined Walker $301. If Walker pays the fine by Sept. 27, his record will be cleared.
The state agreed to drop one count of resisting arrest without violence.
Walker, who just completed his senior season and ranks first in school history in assists, was arrested March 30. Gainesville Police said he ordered a taco from a street vendor, got the food and ran away without paying. When police caught up with him and told him stop, Walker kept going. Officers finally caught Walker with help from several patrol cars. Walker told them he was ''just playing around.''
He apologized for the incident Thursday.

Former Florida Gators guard Erving Walker knows it was a mistake to steal a taco from a street vendor on March 30. In addition to the lesson he hopefully learned, Walker’s wallet is now substantially lighter because of the theft.
On Thursday, Walker pleaded no contest to the charges stemming from the stolen taco. He was ordered to pay $301 for what ultimately was a $3 taco. The...

The Florida Gators, Recruiting, And Why I Started This Thing Called The Bull Gator
There’s a series somewhere in this, well, series of interviews I’ve done recently with other sites. I would never call myself an expert of all things Florida Gators; far from it. I’d prefer to think of myself as an extremely passionate fan that enjoys (almost) every part of running a blog. Fortunately for me, others have questions and on occasion want to know what my answers...
No. 1 Florida Executes the Strikeout Walk Off
The Gators invented a new term on Friday night—or early Saturday morning. It’s the walk-off strikeout. With a runner on third and two outs in the 16th inning, Nolan Fontana struck out on a breaking ball in the dirt. He dodged the tag of catcher Brandon Stephens before sprinting to first. Stephens threw the ball over the first baseman’s head to give No. 1 Florida a 3-2 win in 16 innings.
Will Muschamp To Be In Tampa On May 22
Florida Gators head coach Will Muschamp will be in the Tampa area on May 22 as part of his “Working to Take Over the SEC World Tour.” That’s not the official title of Muschamp’s travel schedule, but I’ve submitted it to the proper contacts with hopes of a t-shirt deal in my future.
Muschamp will appear at the Wyndham Tampa Westshore as part of the 2012 Gator Gathering....

Florida’s Need For A Go-To Wide Receiver May End With Latroy Pittman
Freshman wide receiver Latroy Pittman did what so many other newcomers do these days; he graduated from high school early and enrolled early at Florida. Behind committing to the Gators in the first place, that may have been the best decision Pittman has made.
Thought to be in serious contention for playing time at both wide receiver and defensive back, Pittman may be inline for something...
Ivie Excited About Trip to Florida
For now, Dade City (Fla.) Pasco defensive tackle Joey Ivie is approaching his recruitment with an open mind. However, the 6-foot-3, 250-pound lineman admits that a scholarship offer from his childhood favorite, the Florida Gators, would change everything. Since he hasn’t been to Gainesville in a long time, Ivie is excited about getting a chance to visit the university in the near future.
