Mason Plumlee, Ryan Kelly, Amile Jefferson and Rasheed Sulaimon were all named to the 2012-13 All-ACC Academic Team, which is pretty remarkable. Virginia Tech got two; no one else got more than one.
With the UNC game on deck for Saturday, here are some links and a pretty good ACC joke as well, courtesy of our pal Melissa from Asheboro:
Three guys, a Blue Devil, a Tarheel and an NC State Wolfpack are out walking along the beach together one day.
They come across a lantern and a Genie pops out of it.
“I will give you each one wish; that’s three wishes total,” says the Genie.
The Wolfpack says, “I am studying to be a farmer; my dad was a farmer and my son will also farm. I want the land in the Piedmont to forever be fertile.”
With a blink of the Genie’s eye, –POOF– the land in the Piedmont was made forever fertile.
The Tarheel was amazed, so he said, “I want a wall around Chapel Hill, so that no one can come into our precious city.”
Again, with a blink of the Genie’s eye, –POOF– ther

December 2, 1968. That’s the date of the first game I ever saw in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Actually, it was Duke Indoor Stadium. It wasn’t renamed for Eddie Cameron until 1972.
I’ve seen over a thousand basketball games there, men’s games, women’s games, freshmen games, in-season tournament games, even a couple of NIT games back in 1981.
Seniors are always the heart of a college basketball team and in an era when four-year players are a rarity, Duke enjoyed the pleasure of sending off three players in somewhat of a grand fashion.
Duke’s three seniors went out like they spent most of their careers, as winners.
It wasn’t always pretty but the Blue Devils took care of business putting away Virginia Tech late...
The Big Ten is the nation’s premier basketball conference this season, with five ranked teams and three in the top 10: Indiana, Michigan and Michigan State.
Thus it’s not surprising that a Big Ten star is the Bovada favorite to win the Associated Press Player of the Year award this season: Wolverines sophomore guard Trey Burke at 7-4.
Michigan has had some terrific players in...
CHAPEL HILL, NC This was supposed to be North Carolina's re-emergence onto the national scene.
The Tar Heels fell out of the country's consciousness two months ago after a series of ugly defeats, low-lighted by a 26-point drubbing at Miami. But, admittedly stubborn coach Roy Williams changed his stripes, switching to a smaller, more perimeter-oriented lineup ... and aside...
The last weekend of ACC regular season basketball is here. Six games this weekend will decide the ACC tournament seeding and there is still a lot unknown. Once the seeds are set on Sunday night, make sure to check out SCACCHoops.com and submit your bracket for our ACC Tournament Bracket contest. I'm still working on the prize for the winner, so stay tuned!
The big matchup...
The greatest rivalry in college basketball takes the floor again the night with a somewhat familiar story. Since Roy Williams took over in Chapel Hill, Duke has gone 8-2 in the first regular season game. As is often the case and is true this season, UNC finds a bit of a groove going through February that traditionally culminates with a win over Duke in the regular season finale....
When you get down to it, Duke’s impressive win over UNC was as much about bigger, older players schooling younger, smaller players as anything.
Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.
In Durham, the Heels pulled out a surprise lineup, going small, and it worked reasonably well against Duke though not well enough...
We're just a week and a half away from Selection Sunday and just over a week away from the ACC tournament beginning. if you missed it yesterday, check out this ACC tournament projection chart that will help you figure which seed your team will end up with. Last night, Duke opened up the game late over Virginia Tech to win 85-57. It was the Cameron Indoor swan song for...
