Florida Gulf Coast at Duke Date 11/18/2012 8:00:00 PMLive StatsLinkTV ESPNU Team Stats Embed This Chart On Your WebsitePence's Quick Thoughts Duke takes on a Florida Gulf Coast team that beat Miami less than a week ago.  FGCU's strength against Miami was on the boards as they won both of the rebounding %'s and inside the 3 point arc where they shot 60% from 2 point range.  I'm not expecting any upset in this one, with all credit to Mike Krzyzewski who is always able to get his players to perform at their best.  The bigger thing to watch in this one is Duke's distribution of minutes. Do guys like Alex Murphy and Amile Jefferson start to get more minutes?  Does Quinn Cook start?  These are the things I'll be watching. ****** Next up for Duke is Florida Gulf Coast, and while you might be forgiven for thinking they’re just a tuneup, they did, remember, beat Miami, and by 12. Moreover, and we had forgotten this completely, but former Georgia Tech big man Nate Hicks is there and can presumably tell them more about Duke than the coaches can, since he’s been in the trenches. It’s a young program – they’ve only just moved up to D-1 and the coach is in his second year. So beating Miami is huge. More from DBR DURHAM — His career at Duke to this point has been roller coaster. This week, at this time, Quinn Cook is on an upswing. The sophomore point guard came off one of his better efforts in a Blue Devils uniform in Tuesday’s 75-68 win over No. 3 Kentucky at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Heading into a game at Cameron Indoor Stadium against Florida Gulf Coast tonight (8 p.m., ESPNU), Cook seeks consistency while running No. 9 Duke’s offense. Anointed the starting point guard in the preseason, Cook found himself coming off the bench behind junior Tyler Thornton because his play had yet to match the coaching staff’s expectations. Duke makes a call to sleeper PF

A year ago Duke got re-involved with Amile Jefferson and waited out his recruitment into the Spring signing period. After seeing a couple of targets go elsewhere this Fall, the Blue Devils are looking around again for a potential late signee, and appear to have found one in the form of Gavin Schilling. The 6'9, 235 pounder spoke with TDD about that on Sunday.

Duke Shakes off Slow Start, Shoots Down Eagles

It wasn’t a start befitting at team that had days early taken out the No. 3 team in the country, but the No. 9 Blue Devils kicked their game into gear and easily took out the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles. Mason Plumlee had a dominating performance for the Blue Devils recording a near double-double with 28 points and 9 rebounds. Mason Plumlee had a dominating performance scoring...
