Teams that generally don’t have big time NCAA basketball programs struggle to attract attention to themselves, obviously. So they have to think outside-the-box, and some of them have begun investing time and money into court designs. George Washington is joining the fun by adding all of the Washington D.C. landmarks to it. It isn’t nearly as distracting as others. The Colonials athletic department tweeted out a picture earlier today: GW Athletics Unveils New Floor Design at Charles E. Smith Center – gwsports.com/genrel/052013a… #RaiseHigh twitter.com/GW_Sports/stat… — GW Sports (@GW_Sports) May 20, 2013 I like it. Very classy touch to it with the signature of Tex Silverman, a former member of the Men’s basketball during the 1951-1953 seasons. The shadowing of the the Capitol Building, the White House, and the Washington Monument is much more attractive than say a beach scene that completely hides the three-point line. The school released a statement as well, via the DC Sports Bog: “When people around the world are watching our games, we want them to immediately recognize and understand the university’s unique setting in the middle of the action in this world-class city,”
