After two seasons at Georgia Tech, sophomore Brian Oliver made the decision to leave the university.
A native of Glassboro, New Jersey, Oliver announced via Twitter on Wednesday that he will be headed back home, offering his commitment to Seton Hall and head coach Kevin Willard.
Oliver becomes the second transfer to join the Seton Hall program this off season, joining Gene Teague, who spent time at Southern Illinois. Teague is also a New Jersey native.
Oliver chose to leave Georgia Tech following the coaching change that resulted in Dayton's Brian Gregory taking over.
As a sophomore, Oliver averaged 10.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game last season under Paul Hewitt. Hewitt was recently hired at George Mason following his dismissal from Georgia Tech.
A dynamite scorer, Oliver had games of 32 (Syracuse) and 28 (Virginia Tech) during this past season. The 6-foot-6 guard loves to launch it from distance as well, although his numbers beyond the arc decreased from freshman to sophomore year.
A broken thumb slowed Oliver's 2010-2011 campaign, forcing him to miss eight games in the final month. Oliver played in 18 minutes of Georgia Tech's ACC Tournament loss to Virginia Tech on March 10th, his only action after February 5th.
Oliver will be forced to sit out this upcoming season under the NCAA's rule on transfers, but will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2012-2013.
