(AP) — Trey Burke and Michigan can put aside for now the idea of being ranked No. 1 in the country. An undefeated start to the season? That's over too after the Wolverines sputtered last weekend at Ohio State. Now, the focus is on a Big Ten schedule that will test Burke and his teammates plenty more over the next few weeks. No. 5 Michigan plays at No. 9 Minnesota on Thursday night.

Michigan basketball (17-1, 4-1), fresh off of their first loss of the season, traveled into hostile territory on Thursday night and systematically took apart the #9 ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers (15-3, 3-2). A 17-point first half by Tim Hardaway, Jr. made sure a 1st half like the one played out in Columbus was not to be repeated. Michigan poured it on in the 2nd half and came away...
John Beilein, Trey Burke and Spike Albrecht met with the media this afternoon to look ahead to Michigan’s Thursday night game in Minnesota. Watch the interviews in the embedded media players below.

Michigan, like many other high-major basketball teams, played few true road games during its non-conference slate. The Wolverines traveled to Peoria, Ill. to take on Bradley in the hopes of giving the team a taste of a tough road environment. Before that game, Beilein outlined his hopes for using this road game as a simulation of a Big Ten road environment.
One score and 16 years ago, midway through the Big Ten season, the #10 Golden Gophers played the #5 Michigan Wolverines, and lost a heart breaker 86-80. It was the last time two top 10 teams played each other in The Barn. On Thursday we get to do it all over again. After two miracle comebacks fell just short, both Minnesota and Michigan hope to stay in second place in the Big Ten...
Kofi Opare, a defender who played from 2009-12 for the Michigan Wolverines and joined Detroit City FC for its inaugural season, was taken No. 24 overall in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft by the defending champion L.A. Galaxy.

Michigan head football coach gave a very honest assessment of the Wolverines' 2012 season while speaking in front of a group of Michigan state high school coaches on Friday morning. Maybe a little too honest.
"We had a s****y season, to be honest with you," Hoke said at the
MHSFA's Winner’s Circle Clinic. "Bad year, to be honest. Proud of the

MINNEAPOLIS Tim Hardway Jr. is only a junior, yet already a seasoned, veteran leader for the young No. 5 ranked Michigan Wolverines.
Hardaway Jr. has played big games in the Big Ten. He's seen the intensity and dealt with the emotion of conference road games. Many of his fellow Wolverines are dealing with the expectations that come with playing for Michigan for the first time...
It took us a while to get going after the break, but Dave Merritt and I finally got in the studio to record a new podcast. We had a good time and got to talk Michigan’s loss to Ohio State on Sunday as well as look ahead to the Wolverines’ match-up with Minnesota at The Barn. Here’s a quick rundown:
We kick off by talking with ESPN.com national college basketball writer Myron...
MINNEAPOLIS — All the numbers from the Gophers' 83-75 loss to the Michigan Wolverines.
Michigan has played very good rebounding teams before, but they haven’t yet faced a team that rebounds quite like Minnesota.
The Golden Gophers make their living on the offensive glass, evidenced by their NCAA-best offensive rebounding percentage of 48 percent. Minnesota has athletes — lots of them — and they know how to crash the boards.
“We’ve had these...
