Louisville SID Kenny Klein sent out a press release late on Sunday evening with some very unfortunate news. Center Gorgui Dieng had an x-ray this afternoon when the team returned from the Bahamas that revealed a broken wrist. An x-ray taken at Jewish Hospital when the Cardinals returned from the Bahamas on Sunday night revealed a broken scaphoid bone in his left wrist. His prognosis will be updated after further examination from a hand specialist on Monday. Dieng fell while taking a charge early in the first half of the Cardinals’ 84-61 victory over No. 13 Missouri on Friday in the Battle 4 Atlantis. He returned to the game and played 22 more minutes with his wrist taped, but sat out the championship game against Duke on Saturday This type of injury usually requires 4-6 weeks to recover, but it depending on the break, Dieng could return sooner than that, or possibly later.
