NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Connor Frizzelle knocked down a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Rice to a 50-49 win over Tulane on Saturday night.
The Owls (11-7, 2-1 Conference USA), playing their first game of the season outside the state of Texas, led for all but 25 seconds of the second half until Jordan Callahan's 3-pointer gave the Green Wave a 45-44 lead with 1:03 to go.

The Rice Owls men's tennis team will kick off head coach Ron Smarr's 42nd and final season on Saturday with a pair of dual matches at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium. The Owls, ranked 39th heading into the season, will host Lamar at 11 a.m. and then host Prairie View A&M at 3 p.m.
