HS hoops coach remains hospitalized after being shot several times during robbery attempt

via Daily News LA: Steve Johnson is the coach of the boys basketball team at Eisenhower High School in Rialto; a city in San Bernardino County, California. According to police reports Johnson was shot several times on Monday night while stopping at a local park to use the bathroom before proceeding to get gas on his way home. Reports explain that Johnson was approached by four black males who demanded his wallet who shot him four times before fleeing. The 47 year old coach is an award-winning basketball coach at Eisenhower who was recently inducted into the Rialto Sports Hall of Fame in 2011, won numerous coach of the year awards, and he is credited for making Eisenhower High School the first basketball team in San Bernardino county to win a state title. The most recent reports say that Johnson remains hospitalized at Loma Linda hospital.
