The Fighting Illini had little trouble with Quincy University Monday night in the Assembly Hall in their second and final exhibition of the preseason. Strong defense and a deep bench helped the Illini overpower the smaller Hawks, 73-45. D.J. Richardson led the Illini in scoring with 17.
As the Fighting Illini football team enters the home stretch of its 2011 season, its defense has continued to impress. Leading all tacklers is sophomore linebacker Jonathan Brown. The former Memphis star missed one game but is still the runaway tackle leader. He feels the bye week has been good for the team.
The Fighting Illini football program requires the assistance of many ancillary personnel to make every aspect function properly. Former Illini football player Frank Lenti, Jr., has worked with the video staff ever since completing his eligibility in 2007. He is able to use his creativity to help the program.
