The Indiana Hoosiers showed why they are the #1 team and the favorite to win this year’s  NCAA Championship in March Madness as they went into a hostile Breslin Center and stopped Michigan State’s 17 game home winning streak 72-68.  The game marked the first time two top-five teams have met at the Breslin Center. The Hoosiers did something the rest of the Big Ten teams have tried and failed miserably, ask the Michigan Wolverines if they have recovered from their beating last week (they lost to the Spartans by 23, (75-52).  The Hoosiers kept using an in and out game led by Jr. Victor Oladipo who’s three point play (a put back dunk and free throw) in the final minute sealed the victory for Indiana. Oladipo who was questionable for the game after suffering a ankle injury in their last game vs. Purdue was the man tonight as he finished with 19 points (on 7-11 shooting, 4-4 free throws) 9 rebounds, 5 steals and a block shot.  Helping out was pre-season Wooden Award favorite Cody Zeller who had 17 points (7-16 shooting), 5 rebounds, 2 blocks and an assist. Michigan State were led by guard Gary Harris who had 19 points (6-13 shooting) 3 steals and forward Adrian Payne who had 17 points (6-8 shooting) 7 rebounds, 2 blocks and an assist. Indiana (24-3, 12-2 Big Ten) broke a first-place tie in the conference and moved a step closer toward earning top seeding next month in the NCAA tournament. The Hoosiers had lost 17 straight -- since 1991 -- on the road against the Spartans. The Hoosiers are off for a week before going to Minnesota and play a feisty Gopher team who pushed the Hoosiers in Bloomington 88-81 in their first matchup.  The Spartans try and re-group as they go to Columbus, OH to take on the a Buckeye team stinging from a beat down to Wisconsin by 22 points and a three point loss to the Spartans earlier at the Breslin.     var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
