On Thursday afternoon Kansas players, along with head coach Bill Self, met with members of the media in Allen Fieldhouse. As part of the weekly press conference, the Jayhawks discussed their upcoming opponent, the Texas Longhorns. Self fielded questions how his team plans to slow down the Longhorn scoring attack, as well as the maturation of Tyshawn Taylor and Thomas Robinson during their time at Kansas.

Bill Self Wants the Kansas Student Section to Sing the National Anthem Properly

All student sections have their own quirky little traditions.  At the University of Connecticut, they have the U-C-O-N-N chant after a timeout is taken whenever the Huskies go on a run.  That may not sound all that clever, but when you mix in the fact that the chant has been led by the same fat, red-headed guy named Big Red for the past decade it’s pretty cool to be a part...

Kansas coach Bill Self wants the national anthem left alone

Kansas coach Bill Self has little to be upset with these days. His thinnest roster in nine years on the job in Lawrence is overachieving, in the driver's seat early on in the Big 12 race and fresh off of an 18-point thumping of third-ranked Baylor on Monday night. But everything at Allen Fieldhouse isn't perfect at the moment, in Self's opinion. One key flaw in the game...

Kansas-Texas Preview

DAN PIERINGER STATS Writer After struggling early against some of the country's top teams, Kansas has shown that it can handle elite competition. Texas can't say the same after another loss to a Top 25 opponent left it winless against ranked teams. The No. 7 Jayhawks look to build on their latest convincing victory over a top 10 squad and win their ninth straight win overall...

Taylor surging in conference play

The Kansas Jayhawks have opened Big 12 play by making a statement, dispatching Kansas State, Iowa State and, most recently, Baylor en route to a perfect 5-0 record to date. A big part of that success has been the play of senior Tyshawn Taylor, whose back-to-back 28-point efforts have him playing the best basketball of his career.

What's The Matter With Kansas?

I've spent the past few weeks researching some of the recent coaching hires as part of my neverending quest to bring CBR's readers the best college football analysis on the planet. In the course of boning up on the new faces in different places, I came across an interesting tidbit about one of the new additions to the Kansas Jayhawks staff: Recently hired defensive...

M. Basketball. No. 7 Kansas Heads to Texas for a Big 12 Men's Basketball Battle Saturday

No. 7 Kansas (15-3, 5-0) hits the road to take on Texas (12-6, 2-3) Saturday, Jan. 21 at 3 p.m. on CBS. The Jayhawks are coming off a 92-74 win against No. 3 Baylor on ESPN Big Monday and are looking to go 6-0 in Big 12 play for the third time under head coach Bill Self and the sixth time in the 16-year history of the conference.

Kansas guard Taylor overcomes critics

LAWRENCE, Kan. He had matched a career-high total with 28 points, but like other nights before it, attention on Tyshawn Taylors play turned to an unpleasant topic. Seventh-ranked Kansas was less than an hour removed from an 18-point rout of No. 3 Baylor on Monday at Allen Fieldhouse, and the maligned Jayhawks senior guard looked into a crowded room from behind a table as a questioner...

D.C. duo visiting Kansas

With a full defensive staff in place, the Kansas Jayhawks are hosting a number of top recruits on that side of the ball this weekend. Friday morning, H.D. Woodson standout Kenneth Crawley confirmed he was "on his way to Kansas," and reports indicate he is joined by teammate and former Jayhawks commitment De'Jon Wilson.

REAL Standings: Time to Mess With Texas

MIDWEEK RECAP It is not that KU’s stomp of Baylor Monday night changed anything: it was a projected W, meaning that neither the Jayhawks nor the Fighting Calipari-Lites gained any ground in the REAL Standings–or lost any. Baylor, in fact, retains its half game edge over the Hawks and Mizzou. The importance of the [...]
